Nominee should submit a brief narrative of his/her plans (after graduation) for work experience in the field of radio and/or television.


Rules and Regulations for BCR Hall of Fame Nominations


  1. Nominees can only be nominated by station manager and/or chair of the Department of Mass Communications

  2. Nominee MUST have attended BCR conventions for two consecutive years and must be present at this spring’s convention to receive prize.

  3. BCR Organization MUST receive nominations in hand by March 1 of the current convention year (Postmark date will not be acceptable).

  4. An official transcript of nominee’s academic career MUST accompany submission.

  5. A 5x7" color glossary picture MUST accompany submission.

  6. Station manager or department chair must send narrative outlining nominee's qualifications and outstanding contributions to the station to warrant a BCR Hall of Fame award. Documentation of these achievements may be in the form of tapes, CD’s commendations, etc.

  7. Submission material MUST include at least one letter from a co-worker (student) at the station relative to the outstanding work ethic of the nominee.

  8. Nominee MUST send authorization form for BCR Organization to use picture, achievements, etc in radio, television, newspaper and other media outlets for promotional purposes.


Awards & Compensation


  1. Winner of the BCR Hall of Fame competition will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a prestigious plaque giving at the BCR Awards Banquet, possible radio and television appearances and other press related feature articles in newspapers and magazines.

  2. Winner of the Award will be included in the BCR Hall of Fame archives.

  3. Winner will serve as a spokesperson (public service announcements) for programs and services of the Black College Radio & Television Organization during the current academic year.

  4. Winner of this year’s competition will be announced during the Awards Banquet at the annual BCR convention. If, however, in the opinion of the BCR Organization, no submissions ranked for the BCR Hall of Fame Award, no announcement will be made during the Awards Banquet.

  5. All nominees submitted WILL NOT be announced at the Awards Banquet, only the winner will be announced.

  6. The Decision of the BCR Organization will be final.

  7. All submissions become the property of the BCR Organization. No submissions will be returned.

  8. Competition is open only to current college and university students. Graduates will not be eligible for the contest.

  9. Station Managers and/or Department Chairs will not be able to pick award for a winner who is not present at the convention (No Exceptions). In case a winner is announced who is not present at the convention, the prize will be canceled.

  10. Any personal appearances made by the winner for the BCR Organization will be done in consideration of the winner’s academic schedule. BCR will cover any cost associated with personal appearances on behalf of the organization.
