More BCR 29 Reactions...

The convention has been amazing! I have had the opportunity to network with so many incredible individuals. I am truly looking forward to next year's convention.

Overall, this experience was great. I especially enjoyed the session on HD Radio. One thing I would like to see is a workshop or session on being a radio personality and the qualities one should possess. I felt that this area is always overlooked. Again, I enjoyed myself and look forward to BCR30.

The conference served as a positive reflection of the direction black radio is taking. I became aware of new ideas and I was able to network with others from across the nation. The schedule was conducted in a timely matter and the speakers, especially D.J. Mellow and Ja Ward were well informed about their topics. This was a positive forum and I appreciate the experience.

I thank the BCR Organization for all of the knowledge given these few days. This has also been the best networking experience I have had. One thing that I would suggest for the upcoming BCR events is to mex the students and schools up to interact with each other.

I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this conference. I have gained more knowledge about all of the facets of radio to help me in my professional goals. I will be educating more of my peers about this conference and hope to participate on a professional level following graduation.

This is my first time attending BCR and the networking and opportunities that were available to us this weekend were effective and influential. Even though I am a television production major, the way my horizens have been opened in the broadcast industry in general this weekend has been a great career tool.

Loved the positive info shared in the workshops, especially the Saturday morning session hosted by WASU (Albany State University). Ideas and info exchange is most helpful. Accentuating the positive and “How-To” is what helps us when we return to our schools.

The conference was a stunning example of what happens when positive black energy is focused into bettering our culture through music and networking. We appreciate those in positions to teach us about radio and the music industry.

For this to be my first experience with the Black College Radio & Television Conference, as an on-air personality, I felt that the topics that were discussed were helpful and resourceful. I plan to execute and establish the techniques that were shared by other college radio stations back to my home radio station, WDSU.

What they said about BCR 29!

"Mr. Jelks and the team have done an excellent job with this year's BCR29. In two short days, they provided a range of information that is educational and edifying to HBCU radio stations. The practical dollars & sense subject of sales & promotions is indispensable. The cutting edge technology of HD knowledge is invaluable. And the financial & technical knowledge is useless without the self-awareness and consciousness -raising discussion."

"My experience at the BCR has been most educational. I hope that the opportunity arises again for Langston University to participate. This conference is definitely something all students should experience."

"I have truly enjoyed this experience. This conference provides us as students with a connection to our college superiors and other students on our same level and shows us how we can all be doing the same things and have the same goals. "

"The convention has offered a great deal of educational information. The HD session has really encouraged me as an advisor of our radio station to be opened to the innovations that this new technology has to offer. Both the hip-hop and the station brainstorming seminars have clearly addressed the problems and solutions needed for our college students today as they move forward in the radio industry.

"The concept of Black College is great! Because we like to live in nice, clean places, we are willing to pay the high hotel rates. The rates for registration for the conference is ridiculous for what you get out of the conference. We could really use more "life lessons," workshops (if you know what I mean). Over all, I give the conference a B+"

"”I believe the voting process for the various awards should be conducted differently. The current process of voting is not an accurate measure of who really deserves an award because as long as you recruit the most votes from family, friends and teachers etc. - you win. Therefore, the more talented students or station may not win. Please implement a BCR committee to decide who will receive an award to make the awards banquet a better depiction of who truly is deserving."
